Plastic May Get an Arch Enemy

McDonalds may soon reach the last straw. 

The global hamburger giant said Tuesday it is looking to phase out plastic straws, testing paper alternatives in the UK, Ireland and Belgium, and, in some places, making straws request-only items. Testing of plastic alternatives will start later this year in the US of A. 

Remember when Ben in the graduate was given advice for his future: “One word…. Plastics.

“There’s a great future in plastics.”  Not so much anymore maybe?

From the story: “Alibaba says that over the last year, it has redone about 1 million mom and pop shops like the Huangs’ across China. It has done the same with about a hundred superstores. Big and small, these outlets buy all their goods through Alibaba’s platform and pay using its affiliate Alipay app.”
