Porn Tax: Legislation introduced last week in Rhode Island would put a $20 fee on online porn.

The measure, filed by Sen. Frank Ciccone and Sen. Hanna Gallo , would require users to pay a one-time $20 “digital access fee” to unlock a blocking mechanism that would prevent computer users from watching pornography.  Money raised from paid fees would go to the state’s council on human trafficking.

The legislation also would allow the state attorney general to sue internet service providers who don’t block sexual content or offensive material.

The bill has been referred to the state Senate’s Judiciary Committee.
