The place that describes itself as the Apple Store of cannabis is now open in New York.
MedMen opened its 2,000 square foot dispensary on Fifth Ave., a sign of a changing image for an industry that in previous times probably wouldn’t have been welcomed across the street from Lord & Taylor.
MedMen said earlier this year that it has passed $1 billion in valuation, and also operates in California and Las Vegas. The company made major news last month when it announced a partnership with leading Canadian marijuana company Cronos Group. In addition to the Apple Store, MedMen CEO Adam Bierman has also called his company the Starbucks of cannabis because of his ambitions to build a chain that becomes a landmark part of the culture.

New York law allows medical cannabis, so the store’s clientele will be limited. MedMen will be one of just three dispensaries that sell medical marijuana in Manhattan.
