Kroger Buying Home Chef

Grocery chain Kroger is buying the nation’s largest private meal kit company, the Dayton Daily News is reporting.

Kroger, based in Cincinnati, is buying Home Chef, in what may be a $700 million deal, the newspaper reported.

The sale price is $200 million and future payments of up to $500 million over five years are contingent on achieving certain sales goals, Krogrer said. The pending merger follows Home Chef’s 150 percent growth in 2017. Home Chef also reported $250 million in revenue, andhas had two profitable quarters, according to Kroger.
